The only GameBoy Hokuto no Ken game was released on the 22nd of December, 1989. It was also the first game based on the series to be a one on one fighter, featuring characters from Hokuto no Ken and Hokuto no Ken 2. Each character has a variety of techniques, and the goal of the single player mode is to defeat everyone else. There are also two other modes which can only be played via link-up. The game was also released in America the following year under the name of Fist of the North Star: 10 Big Brawls for the King of Universe.
